1975 AGP winning Lola T400 HU-2 F5000

$0.00

The most sophisticated F5000, the Lola T400 chassis #HU-2, was delivered new to Gold Star champion and F5000 great Max Stewart in January 1975. Lola F5000 development driver Frank Gardner OAM, praised the T400 in his unique manner, mentioning it’s technical prowess, whilst reassuring potential buyers of its simplicity; a F5000 trait that is relished both then and now, in Historic Motorsport.

With many hard fought, outright race wins to it's credit in period, HU2 is perfect for the racer, or someone who wants a stunning piece of history in their man-shed.

  • 1975 AGP Winner ( Surfers Paradise )

  • 3rd - 1975 drivers championship - Max Stewart.

  • 2rd - 1976 drivers championship - Max Stewart.

  • Pole position 1976 AGP Sandown & led most of the race until engine issue. Driven by Jonny Walker at Calder 19-3-1977 and was withdrawn as a mark of respect. ( Max passed away, whilst driving another Lola in a practice session )

The car was not raced again in the F5000 period and sat in a museum in South Australia, until it was sold in the 1980's and competed in a few Australian Historic F5000 events, before being taken oversees and competed in FIA Historic F5000 races.

We understand that the car received a full mechanical rebuild whilst in Europe and was sold to a collector. It has also received considerable attention, with the current owner, who believes the vehicle could just was easily win a concours, as it would a F5000 race. Sounds good!

The car has FIA HTP and the CAMS Certificate of description & historic log book just completed..

HU-2 is in excellent overall condition, it comes with a spares package including: wheels, stands, tools, uprights & misc’ parts.
